With the Coronavirus pandemic reaching massive global proportions (total cases have already exceeded 1 million), it’s a strong possibility that things may become worse before a solution is figured out. Amidst this quarantine, it’s necessary that you utilise any spare time for self-improvement. Read a book, learn a new skill, work out, or write something interesting. For those who are keen to become a better communicator, missing the live experience of a classroom can be replaced by virtual classes or just practicing daily on your own.

To help you out, here are 4 strategies you should follow to become more productive during quarantine:

There are proven results that setting and working towards short-term goals can help you attain your long-term ones. Chalk out a plan where you allot some part of the day to consistently work on achieving your goals. For example, if you want to improve your vocabulary and comprehension skills, you can set aside half an hour every day to read 20 pages of a book. If you want to learn a new skill, say Photoshop, you can watch 1 hr of an online course daily. Similarly, you just need to work out for 15-20 mins on a regular basis to become more lean and fit. Reward yourself on accomplishing your goals. You will stay motivated and positive in the future.

Merely making goals isn’t enough. You need to be proactive and take action to achieve your task. Saying stuff like “I will start from tomorrow”, “Today, I am not feeling too well”, or “I am quite exhausted to do this right now”, indicates a lack of will. Eventually, you will keep making excuses and become regretful later for not following up your plans when you had the time.

Most people have pending goals from the past that they’ve been meaning to work upon. But due to paucity of time and other commitments, they push them year after year. For example, learning how to play the guitar, getting certified in a course, becoming a better communicator or writing a book. You can put all the time saved during commuting to good use now. Turn every situation into an opportunity!
